As I am downloading these pictures, I am overcome with such a sense of pride and words really can't express how proud I am of Carter. His first season of wrestling came to an end a few weeks ago with a 3rd place finish at the state tournament. He worked so hard this season to get to this point. He never missed a practice, never missed a workout in the basement, never complained about spending his weekends in a gym full of other little boys, never complained about what he was told to eat. He watched and re-watched all the video I took of him this year so he could learn from his mistakes. More importantly, he always showed great sportsmanship throughout the season, made some new friends, and learned some valuable life lessons. I think I learned a few lessons along the way as well. I am sad the season is over with ( but also glad to have my weekends back..there someone complained! ha ha). Can't wait to see what next year brings.
So, I have to document a little note about the first place finisher. Carter has actually wrestled him twice this year and has lost to him both times. The kid is good...real good. Once we saw they were in the same bracket at the tournament, Jeremy and I were somewhat nervous that they would have to wrestle again. They were on separate ends of the bracket, meaning they wouldn't meet up until the finals if they both keep winning. I had mixed emotions about this, as I had a feeling Carter would lose to him again and even though end the season with a higher finish, it would mean losing the last match of the season. On the other hand, it is hard to beat someone 3 times and I thought maybe this is Carter's chance to finally get this kid. I truly think everything happens for a reason, and the day played out just like it was suppose to. They didn't have to square up in the finals, and Carter won the last match of the season. It ended the way it was suppose to. All I have to say first place finisher is you better be ready for Carter Freeman next year!
