We're still here! A BIG update!

A BIG update because I am a BIG slacker! Really, 6 months since I've posted anything? Here's a "quick" update on what we've been up too!

CARTER
Wrestling "ended" in March with another great season. Carter wrestled at several national tournaments, placing in the top 4 in all of them, finished first in our AAU district tournament and brought home a state title. I couldn't be more proud of this kid and his work ethic, determination and good sportsmanship. As I am typing this, he is at a week long camp working on his skills in the "off season"

3 of the 4 Freeman boys at the Michigan High School state wrestling tournament. Our nephew Ben won his 3rd straight title and has committed to wrestle at Michigan after high school. Nick took home a 3rd place finish as a sophomore.
The Olympic wrestling trials were in Iowa City this year. Jeremy and Carter caught all the action, including meeting one of Carter's idols J'Den Cox at Subway! Watch for this national champion from Missouri in Rio in a few months!

On to baseball! Carter and the Cobras are back out on the field and are having a great season so far! He's played with the same group of boys for 4 years now and they are all our second family in the spring! They have won a couple of tournaments and have brought home some nice hardware! They've earned a top 3 seed for the state tournament in a couple of weeks!

CLAIRE
Claire has been busy too! She tried her hand at basketball this winter and did a great job! It was the perfect introduction to the game, a low key park and rec program. I was proud of her for trying something new and although she decided basketball wasn't for her, she stuck the season out.

Claire's PASSION...gymnastics! After many long hours in the gym, sweat, some blood and tears, Claire made the competitive Level 3 team at Sapphire Gymnastics Academy. This is such a huge accomplishment. When we put her in classes there a few years ago, we never thought she would be on the track to join the team, but thanks to her coaches and her hard work, she earned a spot on the team! She's working out 9 hours a week this summer and will start the competitive season in the fall with 9-10 meets. Even when she isn't at the gym, she is constantly doing flips, back bends, walkovers, etc at home. I am super proud of her!

Dance... When she isn't at gymnastics she is at the dance studio. This year she took tap, ballet and jazz. She rocked it at her recital, the last one for her, as she wants to focus on gymnastics and also have some free time!

CASE
What can I say about this guy other than he gets drug to everything and takes it all in stride. Since we spend a lot of time at the gym, we decided to enroll him in a little Ninja's class there and he totally rocked the part!

This kid cracks me up! He is really intense and aggressive when it comes to sports and is always trying to keep up with the big kids. I lost him one day at Sports Authority, only to find him getting in a few shots on the bag to " work on my muscles"

One thing I love about him under all the rough and toughness is he is still a little boy and has a super caring heart. He and Mimi are best of friends. He LOVES her and is always the first to play with her, want to take her for a walk, or just cuddle with her.

Reunited after a day of daycare. How sweet is this?

Ball game spectator

He had his first tball game last week and although I couldn't make it, Claire snapped some pictures on my phone for me. He wasn't overly excited about playing tball, " baby ball" as he called it and was upset when he found out there were no umpires, or outs, or score kept. " It isn't a real game then" Can you tell he's been to a few baseball games in his life? He gave it 100% intensity and hit 3 "dingers"

HAPPENINGS!

Easter was spent dying eggs, going to church, eating a giant buffet at Prairie Meadows

Spring break! We of course didn't leave town, but found a few fun things to do! We spent the night at Adventureland to swim and spent a lot of money in their new arcade!

Spring break happened to fall on St. Patrick's Day and I had always wanted to take the kids to the big downtown parade. Well, we went for about 15 minutes and FROZE to death! Little candy, lots of Mardi Gras beads!
They are giving me the "mom this isn't fun look!" Not very springy out!
Mother's Day!  We headed back home to have lunch with my parents and grandma and check out my parents new house! Luckily we had lawn chairs in the car so we had something to sit on!

Muffins for Mom's. Kids Company does this every year in honor of mom's and I look forward to this every year. The staff and kiddos really make mom's feel special.

Last day of school! The kiddos finished up 4th and 1st grade at Walnut Hills on May 27th. Both kids had an amazing year with amazing teachers. They both earned academic honors as well as both earned the a chance to run at the Grand Blue Mile at the Drake relays for completing a marathon in the striders program. I think they were both glad to be done with the year, but a little sad as well. Waukee is opening it's 8th elementary school in the fall and the boundaries had to be re-drawn. Fortunately we get to stay at Walnut Hills, but many of the kids friends will be going to the new school in the fall.

We have our summer bucket list ready to go! Hopefully it won't take me 6 months to post it!
